Scratch Wireless Launches New Value-Driven Smartphone


World’s first truly free mobile service, Scratch Wireless, today announced its new Scratch-enabled Android smartphone named the Coolpad Arise. This smartphone sports a unique Scratch Wireless service that allows consumers access to unlimited free talk and text as well as data over Wi-Fi networks, without having to sign a contract or paying a penny for that service. The Coolpad Arise is ready for pre-order via ScratchWireless.com for only $99.

Contrary to the traditional pre-paid services whose costs rise without notice, Scratch Wireless utilizes a Wi-Fi First approach that takes advantage of the fast growing number of Wi-Fi network access points and hotspots to provide free text, talk and data when customers are connected via Wi-Fi. Texting is always free whether on Wi-Fi or cellular networks. Scratch is literally transforming the cellphone industry by taking the cost and complexity away from traditional mobile contracts and offering a completely free wireless service. They sell high performance phones at a reasonable price without the need to have a contract.

Coolpad is the third largest smartphone provider in China which is known for offering high-speed smartphones at affordable prices. The Coolpad Arise, reasonably priced for any consumer, packs a powerful punch with a 4" display, a rear camera and access to the entire Google Play Store. The device will also boast of improved Wi-Fi call quality, Multimedia Messaging and seamless call handoff.

As part of the plan for its expanded offerings, Scratch has also introduced new data and voice passes for the times Scratch users aren’t on Wi-Fi and feel the need to make phone calls or access data services over the nationwide Sprint 3G network. These new passes start at a minimal $1.99 for 24-hour unlimited voice and were brought out in simple straight response to customer feedback, presenting a more affordable and flexible option to Scratch users.

AT&T Offers ‘Rollover Data’ to its Select GoPhone Prepaid Users



AT&T Mobility is allowing a few of its GoPhone prepaid users to be a part of the carrier’s “Rollover Data” program. AT&T began to offer rollover data to their subscribers on Mobile Share Value shared data plans around late January.

From May 15 onwards, users who had opted for $60 and $45 monthly plans offered by the carrier will be permitted to roll over their unused data for the next 30 days. This, however, will continue as long as they can renew on time. All of the existing customers qualify for rollover data following renewal post May 15. To be able to use this service, consumers must be using a smartphone.

There are many other carriers too who have offered the data rollover facility for their prepaid users. T-Mobile US brought its rollover data program, which it stated as “Data Stash,” to its nominal prepaid users in late March. The plan was only made accessible to normal post-paid customer of T-Mobile and was available for a stipulated timeframe.

T-Mobile’s Data Stash as a plan has been made accessible only to those who opt for the plan with at least 3 GB of LTE data in the case of smartphones or, at least 1 GB for tabs every month. Additionally, T-Mobile provides every user with Data Stash 10 GB of LTE limit data for free. As a policy, users will lose any unused data post one year from the time it is deposited into their Data Stash.

Fortunately, prepaid MVNO TracFone Wireless launched its “Unlimited Carryover” plan in the previous year. According to the provider, the plan permits its customers to retain any unused minutes, texts and data for as long as their service remains active.

AT&T Mobility Launches Loyalty Rewards Program ‘Plenti’





A new program of loyalty rewards has recently been launched by the telecom company AT&T Mobility in conjugation with other big brands such as ExxonMobil, Nationwide Insurance, Direct Energy, Macy’s, Rite Aid, Hulu, and Enterprise Rent-A-Car. The newly launched program is known as ‘Plenti’ and is powered by American Express. The advantage it provides customers is that they earn points by subscribing to this program and can then redeem those points via the merchants mentioned in the alliance.

Another advantage to the program that was announced in mid-March is that AT&T has set no limit on the number of points that get accumulated in a member’s kitty. On top of that, Plenti also gives members a minimum period of two years within which they can use their points.

Users can pay a visit to partner stores or the website Plenti.com and can even download the mobile app called Plenti, in order to sign up for the rewards program. The app is available for both the Google Play and the Apple App Store. Those who have started to sign up at partner stores will need to finish the process by signing up online if they want to enjoy relevant offers and use points during checkout after accumulating 200 points. Members of the Plenti app can also keep a check on the number of points they have earned while at checkout or on the Plenti app or at Plenti.com.

The group announced that Plenti members who use the ‘featured welcome offers’ can earn a minimum of 10,000 Plenti points, which will be equivalent to about $100 in savings. Every 1,000 points from the membership program will turn into at least $10 in savings. After logging into their Plenti accounts, customers can also visit the ‘Online Marketplace’ provided by the group and choose the online store they prefer to shop with.
